How to translate Wiki pages

Most of the OpenKore website is a wiki: a page which is publically editable. You should have noticed the "[Edit]" links all over the place. You can edit the wiki by creating a new account, or logging in.
There are two ways to translate a page:
- Put the translation in a seperate page.
- Put the translation on the same page.
Putting the translation in a seperate page
This is usually recommended for large pages.

Go to the page you want to translate.

Scroll down to the bottom and click on the "Edit" link. You must click on the bottom-most "Edit" link, not the ones on the right of a paragraph header.

You'll be redirected to a page with an edit box. Copy all text in that edit box to the clipboard. Like this:

Scroll down. You'll see a search bar.
Enter an appropriate title for the translated page, and click "Go". The title should be a direct translation of original title's page.. For example: if you want to translate the "SVN guide for users" page to Dutch, and an appropriate title for that page in Dutch would be "SVN gids voor gebruikers", enter that in the search bar and click "Go".

You'll be redirected to a page with search results. Click on the link called "create this page".
- In the text box on that page, paste the text that you copied earlier. You can now start translating.
Choosing a good page title (step 4)
Some translators make the mistake of choosing a wrong title for the translated page.
- Let's say you want to translate the About OpenKore page to Russian.
- A good title would be "История OpenKore".
- A bad title is "AboutOpenKore_Rus".
- Remember, the title you choose will be displayed in the browser's title bar! The title is supposed to be read by humans.
If the translated page title is the same as (or very similar to) the original English page title, then you should append your language's name to the page title. For example:
- You want to translate the Downloads page to Indonesian.
- "Indonesian" is "Bahasa Indonesia" in Indonesian.
- "Download" (in English) is known as "Download" in Indonesian.
- Then call the new page: "Download (Bahasa Indonesia)"
What not to translate
You're not supposed to translate everything. Some words are special keywords for the wiki software.
- Do not translate text like __TOC__, __NOEDITSECTION__, etc. Those are special keywords for the Wiki. Leave them as they are.
- Text that have the form {{Something|Some more text}} are wiki macros. Only translate the "Some more text" part.
Important tips
- Watch the original page for changes! If the original (English) page has been changed, then you should update the translation too. Click on the "Watch" link on the bottom of the original page. Every time the original page changes, you will be notified by email.
- Link back to the original page from your translated page.
- Compare your translation page with the original page. Does everything look as they should be?
Putting the translation on the same page
This is recommended for small pages, such as pages which describe config options in config.txt. The translation will be shown on the same page as the original text.
